Our Mission
CWATU is building a tenant-led movement for housing justice in Wilmington, Delaware. We work collaboratively with communities, legal advocates, organizers, and service providers to develop tenant's community organizing efforts, advocacy and political education, with the goal of building tenant power and advancing tenant rights.
Our Vision
CWATU envisions a Wilmington where all tenants live in stable, safe, and affordable housing, especially tenants who are discriminated against simply because they are low-income, Black, Brown, undocumented, unhoused, or otherwise marginalized by society. We envision a community where housing is a basic human right.
CWATU works with communities, legal advocates, organizers, and service providers to develop tenant community organizing efforts, advocacy, and political education, with the goal of building tenant power and advancing tenant rights.
We assist the City of Wilmington, DE residents with:
Assistance with organizing tenant unions
Understanding Tenant Rights through workshops
A variety of landlord-tenant issues through small group sessions
Referrals for households to access additional support services
